Ethnic segregation and native out-migration in Copenhagen

In this article, we study how the local concentration of ethnic minorities relates to likelihood out-migration by natives in Copenhagen, capital Denmark. US studies, a high or increasing proportion racial inner-city neighborhoods is seen as an important motivation for White middle-class families’ racially and ethnically homogeneous suburbs. The relatively egalitarian Scandinavian setting offers contrasting case, where inner cities are less deprived minority groups primarily consist immigrants children who have arrived over past few decades. We use population-wide, longitudinal administrative data covering 12-year period, measures individualized based on exact coordinates place residence, examine whether associated with concentrations Copenhagen area. Our results largely support presence native mobility pattern, contrast much existing literature. also show that responses vary across life course between immigrants.
